The letter did not reference any request from DOGE to access Treasury payments.
On Saturday, Musk responded to a post on his social media platform X regarding Lebryk’s resignation: “The @DOGE team found, among other things, that payment approval officers at the Treasury were instructed to always approve payments, even to known fraudulent or terrorist groups. They literally never denied a payment in their entire careers. Not even once.”
He did not provide any evidence to substantiate this claim.
Initially, DOGE was co-led by Musk and former Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy, who together vowed to cut billions from the federal budget and implement “massive reductions in the federal workforce.”
Ramaswamy has since left DOGE as he considers running for governor of Ohio.
